I have personal problem with the rule of thirds (not golden ratio) - that’s what I wanted to discuss after your presentation. If you don´t scale whole page with javascript, you never get the whole “image” to your users viewport, which means there are NO intersections in places you want them to have and also no vibrating design. And I don’t want to scale.

Golden ratio itself is quite interesting for me and I’m using it quite often for 2 columns proportions. But the rule of thirds is perfect for static images. Not web.

Here is my answer: the golden proportion can be applied everywhere because at the end is just geometrical proportion (1: 1,618) .

About Community Meeting UX, usability and prototyping Web: I was hoping to talk about web prototyping not about UX. But the conversation at the end was only UX.

@all: My point was not just to show all my Frameworks but also to talk about when to use Framework or why to use Frameworks and how to prototype your own CSS Frameworks but there was no time for that.

So just few things. Should you use CSS Grid Framework? If you having small site with few columns just build your custom CSS.
If you have multi layout “newspaper” type of site with many columns you can consider using or building CSS Grid Frameworks. Just imagine that you should rebuild site like NYTimes or BBS or some big Portal and you don’t want to write new CSS for every different layout page. You one system for all the possible solutions.Or in other words layout framework.
You use Grids for making order and clearness. But the also many other cases that you shouldn’t use the grid.
So plan first, if your site is grid based you can use some grid framework.

Also I was planing to talk about px v.s em v.s % for layout. But it was impossible to cover everything in 45 min. Maybe some next time :)

To conclude: Try to build reusable and clever CSS (build it once, use it many times). About the golden proportion if you use it on your layout doesn’t mean that your site will be great. But consider that there are some “mystical” numbers like Pi, The Golden Ratio that are describing simple and in the same time very complex mathematical, geometrical and philosophical problems.

I had great time in Prague, I met some people with very similar and very different opinion. And I mean the conferences are great because you meet new people and you can exchange your ideas.

<!–texy–>Díky za přehled. Vladimir Carrer měl přednášku na mnoho témat, což mě osobně nevadilo. Jsem rád, že jsem viděl trochu jiný, techničtější a matematičtější pohled na problematiku. Myslím ale, že to byla přenáška spíše pro programátory nebo lidi, kteří s technickou částí UI teprve začínají. Tedy ne do UX hall.

UX diskuze na téma prototypování trpěla myslím podobným problémem - výběrem lidí. Vladimir a Jan Korbel s tím myslím mají naprosto odlišnou úroveň zkušenosti než Jakub Franc. Navíc ten čas - za půlhodinu se skutečně diskuze ani nerozjede. Tady tedy drobná kritika organizace.

Jinak ovšem dobrá práce, mám spoustu zajímavých podnětů a Webexpo můžu jenom doporučovat.

<!–texy–>Většinu času jsem strávila v Business Hall a rozhodně bych to nepopsala jako propadák. Přednášku o kreativitě jsem pochopila tak, jako že mi nikdo do hlavy kreativitu nenaleje. Ti, co odešli, podle mne přesně to čekali (že se z nich stanou kreativci za 45 minut sezení na zadku).
Skvělá byla přednáška pana Frolíka, velmi zajímavá mi přišla přednáška “Slepá hondba za zásahem” (Robert Haas). Přednáška o GTD splnila očekávání (velmi dobrá).
To, jak bylo v Business Hall narváno, rozhodně ukazuje, že zbytečné ty přednášky nebyly.
